Simplicity 2366

June 2, 2013

I finally finished sewing my first ever dress and I am more than happy that it is a sailor dress – I love it so much. I used a silver-blue patterned fabric for the skirt and collar, a white dupioni silk for the bodice and white soutache ribbon for the collar and the sleeves. The instructions were quite clear and it was easy to sew except for the sleeves and the neckerchief but that was probably my fault (these two minor details took me ages… (-:

A few more pictures on my blog here.

  1. Oh this dress is to die for. Unbelievable that this is your first ever dress. Great job, I can;t wait to see what you come up with next.
I love nautical inspired clothing. A good old sailor collar always makes me melt. Beautiful!!

  2. This is a really great dress without coming off as too “cutesy”. Excellent job and it looks fantastic on you.
