Vintage Vouge 2787

I was very excited to make this dress. Its ironic that the 1940s is one of my favorite eras and I haven’t successfully made an authentic forties dress before this one.

I used vintage vouge 2787. I love the S-shape on the front! That was what originally drew me to this pattern. The pattern was straightforward and I didn’t have any real problems, it did however, challenge me with sewing even curved lines. The gathering on the shoulder was modified and I had to pettite-ify the top half of the dress. The dress seems to fit the kind of girl who has a full bust but a small waist and moderate hip.

Check out the post on my blog!

  1. That is super cute; I love it and now I want to make one myself! I’ve seen that pattern before but always thought it looked a little too “glam”, like something to be made up in a body-hugging jewel-tone silk that I’d never actually get to wear out… I adore that you used a print and it looks both beautiful and realistic for everyday wear. 🙂 Inspirational!

  2. This turned out great! I have this pattern but have never made it because I always thought it looked a little too fussy. What kind of fabric did you use?

  3. I have been looking at this pattern for some time and now that I have seen what a beautiful creation you have made I am going to go ahead and get it. Thanks for the inspiration!

  4. Dont it, Ive bought the pattern, cannot wait for it to come as I have a huge stash of fabric and know exactly what will look good made up. When I eventually work up the courage, I shall post some of my outfits – never stop sewing its something that keeps me sane away from the day job!
