Blue Rose Dress

May 22, 2012

This is my version of vintage butterick 9752. I used a paneled cotton jacquard, with a bright blue rose print. The fabric was a score from fabricmartonline.com at only $ 3.99 a yard. The dress is a mix of butterick 9752 for the back and directions and my go to current pattern, simplicity 2444. I wanted the fit to be perfect so I used the modern pattern for the skirt and the front, and the back is a higher version of the scoopneck vintage pattern. I love that the butterick pattern called for jumbo ric rac. I have always wanted to use it! For more about this dress please visit my blog, ErikaMadeIt

  1. So lovely! I saw this this morning and came back this evening to look at it again! (Ok, I also wanted to find the site where you bought the fabric).

  2. Eeek!! I love it so much. You did such a beautiful job, and I especially adore the ric rac you added to the edging. It screams SPRING IS HERE!! 🙂

  3. This is absolutely stunning – well done! I’m a huge fan of boarder prints but it’s so hard to find a one as nice as this. And the style is perfect for it.
Along with everyone else I love the ric rac – I can’t believe I’ve never noticed it being used like this before!

  4. Totally adorable dress and the back of this is stunning!!!! I want this dress, lol…. or at least the fabric so I can make it… You did a gorgeous job on this and you look so cute!!

  5. It’s absolutely beautiful – I love the fabric (I’ve got a huge weak spot for blue rose prints!), the fifties style and the finishing touches. You should be really proud of yourself. x

  6. Lovely! I also saw this fabric but didn’t act quick enough to get any before it was gone. The pattern you used is perfect for it.
