Why Hello There! So Nice To Meet You

Hello! Long time lurker, first time poster. I wanted to introduce myself and my new blog, Down the Retro Rabbit Hole. I’m Tina. I’m a writer living in Philadelphia, PA with my beau, Mr. Retro, and my two crazy Siamese cats Tai and Pretty Kitty. I started this new blog as a way to hold myself responsible for my New Year’s Resolutions… and to have a bit of fun! I have grand plans to blog about sewing  awesome retro/vintage patterns (see below), my adventures in cooking, and some (hopefully) relevant historical tidbits! Hope you’ll stop by and stay awhile!

  1. Welcome Tina! Totally understand your reasons for starting the blog – I’ll be a regular reader I’m sure 😀

    Might be able to help you out with the dates on these – all of them will have a date printed on the back of the envelope except for Simplicity 4693 which is from around 1962 (for some reason Simplicity abandoned dates around 61/62 and started them back up later), and the mail order Prominent Designer one, which also looks to be early sixties by the style.

    I’m especially eager to see the McCall pattern made up!

  3. The mail-order pattern doesn’t have a date on the packaging. I bought them from Wearing History and I’m sure I have the reciept around here somewhere that denotes what era. You’re probably right, Katherine, about it being early 60s. I kinda love it and want to make it in a light wool…

    Simplicity 4693 is lovely… but so small (I think its a B34… and I’m a B38). Grading patterns is going to be one of the 5 new techniques I learn this year, I think!
