40’s Dubarry Skirt

May 31, 2011

Hey Sew Retro folks! I hope you all had a lovely Memorial Weekend.

The weather cooperated for only one day this weekend, here in the Windy City, but it was just enough for me to go out and take some photos of my very first project using a 40’s pattern.

I recently finished up the Dubarry 5836 skirt (unprinted pattern fun) in a cream linen and underlined it in a white cotton batiste. Other than adding in some underlining and shortening the hem, no other mods were made.

Oh, and here’s the pic of the original pattern envelope:

The more I look at the pattern envelope, the more I’m wanting to make this cute top to match.

Feel free to check out my blog zilredloh for some additional pictures and have a nice 4-day week everyone!

  1. @TammyO: This is my first white garment that I've made. I made sure to underline it, but I still think I need to make a white slip to go with. Extra protection that way! 🙂

@AJA: Thanks! I do hope so too, as long as I can keep it stain free. 🙂
