Lutterloh System

April 21, 2011

I was recently given the books for several different years of the Lutterloh System and I was wondering if any of you have ever used this system.  Also, all I was given were the books, not the rest of the kit and I was looking on online for the rest of the kit and the lowest price is $40 and the highest $110.  Being on a pretty tight budget I don’t know if I want to spend that much for it not to work.  Do you think that there is a way that I can use it with a regular dress making tape measure?  Please let me know if any of you have any suggestions either by commenting on here or visiting my blog The 50’s Project.  I look forward to hearing from you.
Till Later!

  1. this is a great system. I have a modern version but I also have some old books. I have less adjusting to do with these patterns than standard patterns. They are worth making the investment. No you can't use a standard tape measure. just make sure if/when you do invest you read the directions and look at an instructional video online, most of the lutterloh system websites have them. I love this system and use it as well as standard patterns. You just need to ask questions if you need to.

  2. I have a 1956 Lutterloh book – its so gorgeous (even though it's in German) but I havent used it yet.

I also have a copy of the rulers in a PDF format – It's just a scan of the original but I can forward it onto you if you send me your email address…
my email is kittysdrawings (at) gmail (dot) com
