Mad Men Competition

September 11, 2009

Here are a few more Mad Men pictures to help inspire you to enter the competition!

Perhaps you’re feeling sporty? Don’t forget the horse riding that was also shown on the show, there were some nice blouses if I recall correctly!

Joan goes for fitted, bright colours and figure hugging curves!

This is a lovely dress, fitted with great details and matching buttons.

Peggy is a little more girly and less va va voom, but still knows how to wear a dress!

Great office outfit with three components, I love the blouse.

How about something for the boys?

Another great office dress, the ruffle stops the plaid being too dull and the belt pulls it all together.

Don’t forget the kids!

Joan showing off yet another wonderful figure hugging beauty!

House dresses or office wear, the choices are endless!

Just to clarify the rules the garment can be something that you have made previously but just haven’t posted to Sew Retro yet. Also, don’t get too caught up thinking you must use a pattern from the specific years the show is set in. As long as it looks like something that one of the characters would wear it’s good enough to enter!

I’m really looking forward to seeing what you will all come up with, especially any Joan outfits. I love a good wiggle dress, although I don’t have Joan’s figure to pull one off! So have a dig about in your patterns and fabric and get entering!

Don’t forget to check out our sponsor’s site for pattern inspiration, you can find Michelle at Patterns From the Past.

Happy sewing!

  1. I am going to have to see this movie! Love the clothes! I think old movies have beautiful clothing. Thanks for featuring this.
