simplicity 1782

This blouse did first come to life this summer, when I was browsing the excellent pattern shop Midvale Cottage for vintage patterns, and I came across Simplicity 1782. It was love at first sight!

All the pretty details on this pattern makes it truly one of a kind.  It is my first venture into the 1940´s, but it will for sure not be the last! I loved stitching this together! For a while I was a bit scared that I had cut it out too small, but it worked it-selves out by sewing further out in the seam allowance than stated in the pattern. From the description in the shop, it says mid-forties, but if anyone have more detailed information, please let me know!

I made view no. 3, and I had fun embellish it with Czech beads on the front. I love details like this, it makes handmade garments even more unique!

Bead embellishment

Sorry for the blurry pic, but it was the best I could do in the gloomy autumnal weather…

I have teamed this top with a velvet pencil skirt I recently made (BurdaStyle 02-2011-107), but would love your suggestions for other outfit options as well!

You can read a more detailed pattern review on my blog, delfinelise. I´ve enjoyed this venture into the 1940´s, and would love to make some more garments from this era! Until next time, happy sewing!
