coral

I love playing with fun color combinations! This one makes me feel like a whole pack of brightly colored bubble gum!

I just adore circle skirts! When I found this great teal twill, I knew it was going to be one!

I’m trying to make more solid basics to wear with printed separates, but I just had to let the colors be the star of this outfit. A me-made 40s blouse, rtw cardigan and vintage 50s hat completed the outfit.

One thing I really love about circle skirts is that you can really change the shape with crinolines! I chose to wear a small one with this outfit but it could easily be glammed up with a huge one. Do you like large or small crinolines with your 50s looks?

I just love nautical things! I love it even more when it’s in a non-traditional color scheme.

Tada! I love wearing coral! So fun!

I used Simplicity 2801 c. 1949 with a combo of the cuff from view 1 and the pockets from view 2. (Because what dress can’t be improved with pockets?)

Initially, I had planned on a solid dress with no trim but it was just too much coral. So out came the nautical braid and a nice white belt to break up the dress a bit.

It was a lot of work getting the trim to be straight and even but it was so worth it! More photos here.
