back vent

I stitched up this pencil skirt in December, and wasn’t certain if it would qualify for WeSewRetro. It’s a contemporary pattern (Burda 8155), modified here and there. But definitely has a 60s feel, especially after pegging a bit.

This was a stash-busting extravaganza. The woolen has been in my stash since college or high school, when I picked it up at an Elks’ Club (ha!) rummage sale. The acetate (sigh) lining is obviously an older purchase… I wouldn’t dare lay my hands on that now. Well, the color might tempt me. I happened to find just the right hem tape in my stash for a perfect match, and used a vintage metal zip for the back, hand-picked. The back vent was made in a modified version of Sunni’s tutorial, and everything was stitched up with silk thread.

Oh, and the blouse is a vintage find from my husband’s grandparents’ house, and the shoes were my wedding shoes. They are a Deco-inspired modern shoe by Miss L Fire. Maybe I should post my dress… a Decades of Style 30s evening gown?
