Retro styled wiggle dress , V back neck, based on Burda Style 7178

This time, i use a 60s double knit fabric. Green and white stripes  make me choose again the  simplest design , model C : sleeveless , without collar .

It aint too shabby-COWBOY GINGHAM SHIRT FOR BF

By on May 20, 2013

Hey YAWLL!
It’s been a long time, well ive actually made something wearable but unfortunately its not for me its for my boyf as a valentines prezzie awww. <3
I used kwik sew 3506 i cut a medium it was massive i took in a couple of inches. the most annoying bit was the facings-i get mixed up with them alot left right front back confusion. as it was valentines and i wanted to put my stamp on it, i tried to stitch I <3 U on the inner pocket flap.
does anyone know of a good book to help the drafting of muslins, converting measurements to drafted clothing? and not hating the fabrics i have thats a big problem for me. but i feel newly inspired by all the gorgeous pieces that you ladies are creating 🙂

hope to see you all soon

Highwaisted Trousers

By on December 3, 2012

Hello Sew Retro Community!

10 weeks ago I had a baby. I have lost most of my weight, but my body just isn’t the same and I barely fit into my vintage clothing. Also, with strictly breastfeeding – my vintage dresses are out since they are side or back zip. What did that mean for me? SEWING!

I decided to break out my FAVORITE Evadress.com pattern

I cheated and placed a zipper instead of the buttons. I would like to make a denim version with cute buttons next!

Opera Coat without the Drama

Vogue 1137 reprint of vintage 1950 dress and coat.
I made only the coat and it’s fabulous – swingy and loose without the being frumpy or shapeless. 3/4 length kimono sleeves make it easy to sew too as there are no sleeves to insert and its loose style means there’s no fitting issues either.
I paired it with a 2012 Vogue pencil skirt for a late 1950, moving into 1960 look.

Vintage Vogue 1171 – Part 2

By on November 29, 2011

It took me a bit longer then it should have but I’ve finished my Vintage Vogue dress. Here it is

This is the first item of clothing I’ve made on my new dress form and the only thing I fuddled up was the length of the hem.

Overall I am happy with how this turned out. If you would like to see construction of the dress please feel free to visit me.

Happy sewing everyone.

Vintage Vogue 1171 – part 1

By on November 14, 2011

I’m half way through this pattern and am just loving it. I hope to finish the whole dress by the weekend, well that’s the plan anyway.

What do you think so far? Have you sewed something with buttons down the front? I would love to hear any tips/hints you might have. This is also the first time I’ve sewn bound button holes.

If you would like to see more of the construction so far it’s HERE. Happy sewing everyone.
