Vintage Vouge 2787

Vintage Vouge 2787

I was very excited to make this dress. Its ironic that the 1940s is one of my favorite eras and I haven’t successfully made an authentic forties dress before this one.

I used vintage vouge 2787. I love the S-shape on the front! That was what originally drew me to this pattern. The pattern was straightforward and I didn’t have any real problems, it did however, challenge me with sewing even curved lines. The gathering on the shoulder was modified and I had to pettite-ify the top half of the dress. The dress seems to fit the kind of girl who has a full bust but a small waist and moderate hip.

1950s-60s Summer Dress

By on September 18, 2012

Hello! I am Viola, one of the Brentwood Lane sisters (Viv Me and Vera). This is my first post on WE SEW RETRO so I hope you enjoy it.

This summer (it’s not over yet and still warm where I am!) I wanted to make and easy-to-wear summer dress and I think I accomplished that. Although I used modern fabric and a modern pattern, I still wanted a vintage look. Speaking of the fabric, I picked a Swiss Dot floral print. I must admit that I like it a whole lot better when it is all sewn up than a piece of yardage! As always with me, I snuck in a pocket.

Right-side pocket!
