1960s debute

This dress reminded me of a Mary Tyler Moore or a Jacke O dress. I’m nothing like either style icon so I acknowledge that it’s all in my head.

Anyway, this fabric is a $1 Cue remnant from Pitt Trading. The dress is Butterick 3833. The trim is leftover shirting fabric cut on the bias.

This dress was supposed to be a test but it was fitting well (with a few tweaks and comments from my sewing/fashion bloggers) so I decided to make it an official dress.

Working girl’s dress

Mary Tyler Moore was the 70’s girl to me. This style is definitely something she would have worn in the office working for Mr Grant, sitting next to Murray and listening to Ted rant on about himself.

I bought the fabric from Pitt Trading. They sell pre-loved fabric stashes so I’d like to think this fabric was from the same era.

When I wore this to work this dress bought some nostalgia to my work colleagues too.
