This peplum dress is very reminiscent of retro style, I love it!  It is based on a modern pattern Simplicity 2282 though.

This is my first vintage pattern that I have attempted. The original A-line style made me very frumpy and maternity so I altered it to make it more fitted and changed the placement of the buttons. I am not so sure if I like this dress, it has a very strong personality due to the red colour. What do you think? I am still wondering if I should wear it to work.

Hello Fellow Sew Retro members and readers,

This is Sertyan here from Sertyan’s Sewing Corner, from Malaysia! I am a working mother of a 2 year old. Before I used to sew dolly dresses and since I had my little girl, I sewed dresses for her. Recently I have started sewing for myself. This is my 3rd made-for-me piece, a retro inspired shirt dress from the 70′s. This is my first time posting on Sew Retro!

The pattern is Simplicity 2403, a modern pattern but the notched collars do give a 70′s effect.

For more information on the pattern, the fabric, the dress construction and also a tip on ‘beware of the pattern’, do visit my blog post on the dress.

Thanks for reading and I love it if you can give me your comments on the dress! Cheers!
