The table runner skirt

By on January 16, 2012

I fell in love with a pair of vintage table runners that I found in a charity shop in Helsinki. I wanted to make a skirt using Simplicity pattern 4648 that I used for this skirt. However, when I had used up all the fabric I realized I had forgot to cut one of the back pieces! Oh well. It was improvisation from there to the end. This is my first piece of clothing that I have made without any instructions and I had so much fun with it! I sewed the two table runners together. What I only realized at a later stage was that the seam actually works as a sort of crinoline and gives the skirt a nice shape.

More about the skirt on my blog pretty odd wonders.
