Vintage Vogue 8789 – (first post!)

By on April 12, 2012

Hello all,

I whipped up this easy little number for Easter from Vintage Vogue 8789. The instructions were clear and the pattern was very simple to follow. I skipped the cumberbund because I didn’t want it to have too much of a homemade look.

The skirt is so incredibly full, I didn’t have a petticoat as large as I wanted so I call this a ‘baby poof’. I was pleased that it ended up looking like the illustration and fitting without much alteration.

Pincurls and all!

I used a basic cotton – you can’t really tell in this photo but the fabric has white polka dots as well. I raised the waistline about 3/4”  and it suited me perfectly. This is the first time I’ve inserted a  zipper into a side seam and it wasn’t nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. I hope to make a few different versions of this dress for summer vacation.

Happy sewing!
