Hello there vintage babes, and Happy Holidays! To celebrate the season I have made myself the perfect little holiday dress using Butterick 9566 (slightly modified) and reproduction vintage xmas fabric! I added matching rick rack, my ultimate favorite sewing trim. I absolutely love this pattern and plan on making more versions! Anyone know what year this pattern is?

Rick Rack Dress

By on September 19, 2013

I’m back with another, vintage dress remake! I have an obsession for rick rack, and fell in love with this blue dress covered in rick rack, that was posted on the Coletterie blog. I knew that I had to make my own, and finished it just in time for my first anniversary!

I used 35 yards of rick rack to cover this simple princess seamed bodice and semi- circle skirt. I marked the pattern and then the dress, with lines 2″ apart and then sewed rick rack over the lines. I think it’s pretty close to the orignal!

Gertie’s Tiki Dress

By on June 18, 2013

I’m back with another sweetheart sundress from Gertie’s New Book for Better Sewing! This time it’s the tiki variation I made from some Marc Jacobs flowered cotton from my stash. This fabric was meant to be a tiki dress! I did another shirred back, because I’m obsessed now, and I draped a faux sarong piece that goes on top of the pencil skirt. I LOVE IT!
