Vintage Butterick 8038 (and also a mini-introduction!)

August 7, 2016

OK, so I’m always waaaay behind trends, and We Sew Retro is case in point! ย How did I not know about this blog before last week? ย I’ll never know…. but I’m so glad I finally did!

I’m Lily and I’ve been blogging over at Mode de Lis for almost 3 years now and I’m so excited to get in touch with some more vintage seamstresses! ๐Ÿ™‚ ย Last week I shared one of my recent projects: a dress made from hand-printed Indian cotton using vintage Butterick 8083….

More details (including my love for indulging in obsessive pattern matching) over at my blog, Mode de Lis!

  1. Really glad to have been introduced to your blog. Your projects are gorgeous (you have a great eye for pairing fabrics with patterns), and I love your styling choices! It’s also always great finding more 1930s aficionados ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Just lovely! Beautifully done! You look so pretty in this dress! I’m heading over to check out your blog!

  3. I really love this dress. And by some luck, my grandmother had this pattern, Butterick 8083, in my daughter’s size, 14. However, some of the pieces are missing. The front pieces were in the package, but I don’t have 1, 6 and 7. I am thinking I could just use a back bodice piece for 1 from another similar vintage Butterick pattern, but I don’t know the measurements of 6 & 7, which are just rectangles. Can you send me the measures of your 6 & 7? I would greatly appreciate it.
