Butterick B6167 – My Birthday Dress

June 23, 2016

Finally, a real shelf bust dress! This is Butterick 6167 from the Patterns By Gertie line. This also happened to be my 34th birthday dress – yay! The fabric is also from Gertie and I picked it up at JoAnn Fabrics.

I won’t lie, I had a heck of a time with fitting this thing. I made so many alterations that it was hard to keep track of. You can read all about the headache on my blog. I actually almost gave up – but I’m glad I didn’t because I think it turned out really cute!

  1. cool new system allows you to integrate your cell phone and land line. You can read more about it here. Enter to win the new at&t Connect to Cell Answering System on the Rafflecopter form below.

  2. Our highest CC bill ever was around 10K… but that included furniture, some moving expenses, and a year’s worth of insurance for several policies. (And of course we paid it off in full!)

  3. Lovely dress but I agree about the pattern and fit! It gave me such a nightmare. I’m a 36 D and had I a horrible time and the waist was to long, bras kept showing or didn’t work with the dress. So I moved up the waist a good two inches and built in a bra and underwire with padding into the back part of the shelf area. Made a dart in the front to stop gaping and since I made mine a halter I had two straps one to hold the top up and the other to hold the sides up. It was brutal. I threw the pattern out I believe. It was a outdoor wedding only reason in stuck it through!
