Some Summer Confections

July 8, 2015

Hi everyone, first time poster here! I’ve been reading the blog for a while now, and been involved in the Facebook group, but have finally taken the plunge and decided to post about some of my makes here!

It’s no secret that like many here, I love sewing pretty things and taking inspiration from by-gone eras (most especially the 1950s!). So here’s what I came up with last summer!

First, a matching crop-top, circle skirt and headband from floral-print quilting cotton. This was the first circle skirt I’ve made and I love how it spins out when I twirl!

Delighted with this, I then made another circle skirt in green satin:

Finally, a coordinating crop top and high waisted shorts from scallop-edged satin:

These were all made from self-drafted patterns. I blog at Miss Maddy Sews; you can read more about the floral co-ord here, and the satin circle skirt and co-ord here.

  1. Beautiful work! I’m so glad you decided to share the photos with us, and hope you continue to post in the future. I think out of these the first is my fav – I think the pattern looks lovely on you and the combo is really sweet.
