This is my first posting on We Sew Retro. I have been looking at all of the cool repros for a while and decided to finally post one of my dresses that I made. I only sew with vintage patterns unless I am sewing for other people. I typically sew mod era fashions, but decided to go with an early ’60s pattern because that is when my grandma was a teenager. I know that a sundress is really out of season, especially with the Christmas tree in the background, but I decided to start on a few pieces for spring. I purchased the fabric from Hancock Fabrics on Black Friday. The dress was too loose in the back, so I had to add darts. I also made the Noel mailbag and the stockings in the back of the picture from a ’50s Mccalls pattern.

I love items from the 1950s to the 1970s and especially love the mod '60s era. I constantly go to antique malls, thrift shops, and yard sales in search for the perfect vintage items. I like to collect vintage catalogs. My crazy obssession is collecting vintage sewing patterns. I really dig dressing vintage and am working on making an entire wardrobe of vintage clothes and vintage reproduction clothes.

Hi Vintager,
Your sundress looks great. Please don’t be shy about posting bigger or more pictures! I’d love to see a close-up of your dress fabric and the lovely stockings you made.
Cheers, Sarah
