Mod Dress in Ponte Knit

I decided to copy cat the 1969 vintage look on the envelope of Vogue pattern 7663.  The short sleeved dress is loose fitting with a dropped waist and front button banded placket, the skirt is one way pleated all around.

I changed the pattern slightly to accommodate my much loved ponte knit fabric. I achieved this by removing the back neckline darts and stitching down the front button placket

I love to sew...anything, but I really love a dress with amazing construction. I have been sewing since I was a child. In high school I stumbled upon vintage frocks and a love of polka dots and peplums. Did I mention that I adore vintage sewing patterns and have a habit of hoarding them?

This is so smart looking! I have vintage pattern whose envelope art I plan to copy too and am kinda tempted to try and make it a thing, lol. Thanks for the inspiration!
