Vintage Inspired Copy Kat

Hi! I’m Kathy of The Nerdy Seamstress! When I started my blog, I knew I wanted to have a Copy Kat feature, but I wanted to draft my own pattern. I put it on the back burner to build my sewing foundation because drafting patterns seems like a scary and daunting task. Some how through my wandering the various blogs, I found the Copy Cat Challenge. It was perfect timing because it just gave me the push I needed to start my own feature. I knew this Bettie Page dress would be the perfect first dress to try to replicate.

What drew me to this dress is the back. I’m a sucker for any thing that has detail on the back. I feel that it’s often neglected. I’m proud of how it turned out. Of course, things weren’t successful with the first go. I made a muslin, and had to make minor changes.

I hope you jump over to my blog and check out my Copy Kat! :)

The front cutout and the back detail are awesome.

I looked at the first picture and thought, yeah cute, then scrolled down to the second and “wow” very cute indeed. This is stunning!

It looks great. I’ve always loved the back on that Bettie Page dress and your version is perfect.
