Vintage Sewing

Pyjamas from a vintage sheet

October 20, 2013

I picked up some fabulous vintage flanelette sheets recently in my favourite charity shop, of course I had to make some pyjamas.
I used a pair of my comfiest pyjamas to draft a pattern.

I used french seams throughout for comfort and finished off the top with some lovely vintage buttons.
I’m really happy with how this first draft turned out, and so it seems is my daughter who after modelling for me is now keeping hold of this pair for herself!
I’ll make another pair for me, just got to find some equally fab fabric.

  1. Loooove it! I just picked up some polka-dot sheets at a thrift store I thought I would make into a pinafore, but jammies is such a GREAT idea. They look so cozy! I have a few sewing vintage blog posts, but mostly write about swing dancing and 40s stuff. This is great inspiration for me 🙂 Thanks!

  2. Thanks all, my daughter didn’t take them off after modelling them. I think she was afraid I’d take them back! She wore them for the rest of the day and to bed. I think she likes them.
I have another vintage sheet I might use to make another pair for me, and will be checking my favourite charity shop for more fabric.
