Gertie’s Fall Dress – Butterick (5953)

October 7, 2013

For my first post on We Sew Retro I picked Gertie’s new Butterick pattern. I’m a such a sucker for vintage styles!

The dress was really easy to make and didn’t take too long – I made it in one short weekend!

I used a stretch sateen on both the dress and contrast. This pattern runs true to size with Butterick but does include a lot of ease. Next time I’ll be making it smaller for a more pinup type of look.

  1. I just saw this pattern and added it to my list of Must Haves. I’m glad I also decided to check here to see if anyone had already made it. You did a lovely job, and I’m adoring that fabric!
