Gertie’s Fall Dress – Butterick (5953)

For my first post on We Sew Retro I picked Gertie’s new Butterick pattern. I’m a such a sucker for vintage styles!

The dress was really easy to make and didn’t take too long – I made it in one short weekend!

I used a stretch sateen on both the dress and contrast. This pattern runs true to size with Butterick but does include a lot of ease. Next time I’ll be making it smaller for a more pinup type of look.

My name is Amy and I run the That's Sew Amy blog. I have been sewing on and off since I was 6 years old but became totally obsessed with it summer of 2012. I feel like sewing gives me a way to express my creativity and accomplish goals. I love vintage, pin-up, cosplay, preppy and punk. I don't follow the fashion rules, I sew what makes me happy. There is no better feeling than a stranger complimenting your outfit and then being able to say you made it!
