This is my very first post on WeSewRetro, so I’m a teensy bit nervous. But I love vintage-related sewing so I’m excited to start contributing! This is a dress I actually made a year ago, but I just recently got some decent photos of it. For that reason it’s my latest post on my very new blog, so it seemed the right thing to post here now. This was my first Cambie Dress from Sewaholic (with which I’m sure many, if not most, of you are already familiar). Although it’s not a vintage pattern, it certainly has a vintage vibe to it. The fabric, however, is definitely vintage. Although I can’t verify it, considering it came from a thrift store and is a silk with this style of print, not to mention this colour palette, I’m pretty certain it’s c. 1960s (if you think I’m off, please feel free to speak up, I’m no expert!).
This is one of my very favourite dresses – still after a year ;o) I fully lined it with a silk/cotton blend voile so it’s light, airy and very comfortable (as long as I don’t eat too much!) I think I’m love with this pattern, it’s so well designed, I think I need a little army of Cambies! (and wouldn’t it be awesome if they could all be in vintage printed silks! I will dream on, lol)
You can read some more about it on my new blog here. There’s not much on there yet, but I hope you’ll pop by to say hi!
