1950’s Dress

I finally finished my dress and had a sunny day to take some pictures.

This is made from pattern Vogue Vintage 8789. It was very easy to make, I bought a two layer petticoat for underneath and wow am I pleased with it. I used very soft cotton in blue floral and it really does work well with the dress.

Here is a close up shot of the button detail on the shoulders.

Now to go to a tea party….

Hello, I have been sewing, knitting and crocheting for years and now am in the process of building a 1940's wardrobe for myself. Love that era.

  • That is super cute– I really want a petticoat so I can wear fluffy dresses like that!

  • It looks like you did a great job on the shoulder detail! It also looks so perfect with the petticoat, awesome length.

I had considered making this dress for a (now called-off) wedding I was to attend in September. Your creation may have just inspired me to get started on that :) Thanks!
