Vogue 8788 with drafted collar

I decided to make a new summertime dress for my daughter.  While the silhouette of the Vogue 8788 is lovely, I just felt it was missing something.  So, I drafted a peter-pan collar for the dress!

We picked out a blue cotton lawn fabric with little white and green polka dots for the body of the dress.  For the collar, we chose a contrasting true red rayon blend.

The edges of the gown are trimmed in bias tape, so I simply made some from the fashion fabric.

I think she looks just darling in her new summer dress!  She says it’s quite comfortable and she loves the feminine silhouette.  I liked how quickly the dress worked up and construction was not at all difficult.  This would be a great pattern for a beginner.

There are a few more details over at my personal blog.

I think it’s definitely what that **yawn** bodice needed. I may just have to make one for me.

My daughter loves shoes. They are pretty cute. Thank you!

Love the print you chose for this dress and your addition of the Peter Pan collar-in RED!

I was tempted to make the collar detachable so she could also have one in green. Maybe next time! Thank you!
