Sew alongs.

April 24, 2013

Are there any new sew alongs or sewing challenges (vintage/retro related)? I always find out about them when they are near the closing date.. 🙁

[EDITED TO ADD: Audrey I hope you don’t mind me jumping into your post like this, but I think you’ve hit on a common problem – I’m always missing sewalongs because I only hear about them when they’re wrapping up. If any of our contributors/readers are hosting a sewalong or sewing challenge with a specifically retro or vintage theme, don’t hesitate to drop me a line at katherine [at] wesewretro.com to let me know when you launch it and I’ll do what I can to get the word out.

  1. there’s a great gatsby 1920s sewing challenge being hosted by miss crayola creepy at the moment. it finishes up at the end of May. I’m excited to take part in it 🙂

  2. The Challis Chalet is just coming to an end (was April long) – more at: http://peanutbuttermacrame.blogspot.com/2013/03/the-challis-chalet-flickr-group.html

Then there’s Me Made May: http://sozowhatdoyouknow.blogspot.com/2013/04/me-made-may13-sign-up-here.html
The theme for May’s Stash Busting Challenge is knits: http://cationdesigns.blogspot.com/2013/01/announcing-stashbusting-sewalong.html

And you’ve seen the Great Gatsby one for May on Miss Crayola Creepy.

A good place to start finding out about sew along and monthly challenges is the list compiled by Kat over at Modern Vintage Cupcakes: http://macskakat.wordpress.com/upcoming-sewing-challenges/

  3. Butterick has one going, celebrating 150 years. Make something inspired by the silver screen and it goes until about June 20th. I have had the same issue: I don’t know it’s happening until I see everyone’s finished projects. Good luck!
