50s Fabulousness

Oh, 1950s dresses how do I love thee! I’ve had this fabric in my stash for a while and I knew exactly what type of dress that I wanted to make with it!

A great 50s double breasted dress with a great collar!

And too top it off, I found a pattern with pockets (Simplicity 1097)! Score!

I chose some yummy white trim to make the collar pop and a white belt to break up the business of this print.

More photos and construction details can be found on my blog. What’s your favorite fun feature on a dress? Mine’s definitely pockets!

  • This is a wonderful dress. It’s very flattering. The buttons and collar details are lovely. I also like your hair and styling (the jewelry and shows). Great job!

  • If a dress has usable pockets, I’m buying the dress! Looooove this dress.

  • Absolutely love it! Bags of style. Nice one 🙂 My favourite fun feature on a dress is bows without a doubt!

  • So chic. What a very stylish dress 🙂

  • Pockets 😉 I once had on a dress and someone asked if I had made it. My son immediately answered, “If she had made it, it would have had pockets.”

I love your dress. Job well done!

  • My mom wore gorgeous dresses like this: women looked like women then. Your dress flatters your figure, and the detailing on the collar is exquisite.
