GIVEAWAY: The hat of your choice from Lady Eve Millinery

October 19, 2012

Autumn has just hit us here on the Indiana/Kentucky border, and man is it windy. I’ve been cursed with the same haircut as Lion-O from the Thundercats, which means I’m spending most of my days trying to dig my face out so I can actually see where I’m going.

What I need is a hat.

Hat season approacheth, and what better way to celebrate than with a sassy piece of headgear created from a vintage block. While you’re marvelling at how smoothly I transitioned into this, allow me to introduce Lady Eve Millinery, the etsy shop of WeSewRetro-er Aimee.

Everyone say Hi Aimee because Aimee wants to give you your very own hand made vintage style hat. And who am I to stand in her way. One lucky reader will get the hat of their choice from Lady Eve Millinery‘s ready-made stock.

To enter, head over to Lady Eve Millinery and decide which hat you simply must have. (While you’re there, don’t forget to show some love for a small business owner by adding her shop to your favorites!) Then pop back here and tell me which hat you want most and why. The winner willΒ receiveΒ the hat they chose in their comment.

Could it be simpler? No! Could it be more awesome? No! Let’s do this!

(My favorite? Definitely the Claudette Cloche)

The winner will be chosen on Friday, October 26th so get your entry in before it’s too late. As always on WeSewRetro, this giveaway is open to entrants worldwide πŸ™‚

  1. What fabulous hats! My favorite is the Louise Cloche Hat in Camel Fur Felt Velour with Vintage ivory Grosgrain Bow. Crossing my fingers. And, definitely saving that Etsy shop!

  2. Like you, I am making the transition into becoming a regular hat wearer, and I think this one would be perfect to help me on my way: http://www.etsy.com/listing/110861445/brigette-beret-hat-in-camel-fur-felt

The colour is such a such beautiful brown which I think would compliment my hair and eye colour very well, with it being the perfect warm but soft brown. Also I have a pair of 1940’s brogues, handbag and coat that would look perfect with this. These hats are so well made, the perfect vintage hats but without the damage that an original would come with. I added her to my favourites: http://www.etsy.com/people/isabelladeverson/favorites?type=shops , and I hope that I stand a good chance of winning!

  3. Gorgeous hats. My absolute favourite is the teal Olivia. Not only because I love teal, but because I love those ’30s-’40s feminine takes on the traditional men’s hats.

  4. Oh, those are lovely. I have always wanted to try my hand at millinery! It was difficult to choose but Babette Cap Fascinator Hat in Grey Fur Felt Velour won by a really small margin. Good luck everyone and thank you for this wonderful opportunity!

  5. Oh gosh they are so wonderful! I absolutely love to wear hats, and the delysia in black velour felt is my favourite! It doesn’t get much more versatile than that!

  6. Beautiful cloches, but all too small for me! Lucky that Babette is both gorgeous & one to perch on top of my hair (I battle with a lion’s mane, too).

  7. I really adore the Louise cloche in Lavender. Luscious colour and shape, and it will look adorable with my new Lady Grey coat, which has lavender/lilac lining.
    Tania from Denmark

  8. Having just discovered millinery myself, I’m swooning all of these hats. My clear favorite though is the Claudette Cloche in midnight blue! I might have to buy it even if I don’t win.

  9. What an amazingly generous giveaway! My birthday is next Wednesday (the 24th), and I can’t imagine a better birthday present than being able to call the Zelda Cloche my own. I’m not sure I’ve ever crossed my fingers tighter!

  10. Hello!
I would love the Claudette cloche, because it looks like I could wear it even though I have NO hair, which gets very cold and also is a reason why I would like new hat. (Nope, don’t have cancer, “just” alopecia…:))

  11. My first choice would be the Louise Cloche Hat,because its versatile but i also love the Claudette Cloche Hat and ive always wanted one with veiling so i love the Grace 1950s styled cocktail Hat.

  12. What an amazing shop! It’s so hard to choose a favorite hat, but I’m going to have to go with the delysia in black velour. Thanks for hosting this giveaway!

  13. id choose the Claudette Cloche hat becase it is absolutly amazing .. I dont know if Id EVER take it off..It is fantastically vintage 1920s looking..If I dont win Im not sure Ill be able to live with out it!!!!!

  14. I love the Margaret in eggplant. It would wear fantastically with my new trench. All of the hats are amazing. I hope to receive some for my birthday/Christmas.

  15. Ooh, this piqued my interest, I adore vintage hats and have… a few *ahem*. I was immediately drawn to Olivia in Teal but I already have a teal Trilby so I carried on looking and my eyes settled on Delysia in brown. I love brown, I love velour but what clinched it was the gorgeous striped grosgrain ribbon, what an amazing hat! I was also really fascinated to see the hat block – very interesting indeed! Thank you for this great giveaway opportunity.

  16. Definitely the Margaret! I love the green and brown combo and it would fit perfectly into my wardrobe:-) Thanks for sharing this site, truly beautiful hats!

  17. How fun! I love three hats – the Margaret, the Delysia and the Zelda, but my fav would be the cranberry Margaret.
    Thanks!

  18. I absolutely have to have the Margaret Cloche Hat in Eggplant Fur Felt Velour with Satin Ribbon and Ribbon Flowers! Thank you for such a wonderful giveaway!

  19. Thank you Aimee for your generous giveaway! πŸ˜€ My favorite hat in your shop is the Louise Cloche Hat in Camel. I love cloches, and know I would and could wear this one all the time with pretty much anything in my closet. πŸ˜‰ I am also a big fan of more neutral colors, and love the way the ivory bow looks on top of the camel colored velour.

  20. Oh, i think i’d have to go with the Zelda cloche (even though i haven’t yet figured out just how to make it work with my hair…) – the shape is lovely!

  21. Hands down the Babette Cap Fascinator – the shape and the colour are so classic and I love the flower details. So pretty πŸ™‚ I’m half tempted to buy it now…

  22. Gah! They are all so fabulous! I would LOVE to win the Margaret Cloche Hat in Eggplant, however, as I believe it wins hands down in a fabulousness contest. (that is totally a word, btw)
I think I should win because it has been an incredibly rough couple of months in my life and I am in desperate need of something to lift my spirits.

  23. These are gorgeous! Holy wow!! I love the Brigette Beret – specifically, the camel one. I’m thinking that would be a good push to cut my hair off and rock the giant pin curls, just for the greatest hat in the world to perch on top πŸ™‚

  24. I’m going to have to go for the Babette Cap Fascinator too! I like a fascinator that doesn’t look like it’s about to take off from the side of your head, and that style would look great with pin curls!

  25. My favourite is the Brigette Beret Hat in Violet. It’s such a beautiful simple shape and the colour would complement just about everything I own, as for the bow, well it’s just so… so… BOW-TASTIC!
I’d wear it for everything from lunch with the girls to the school run (though swimming in it would probably be a bad idea) and then start pestering Mr H to buy it for me in pink too!

  26. Zelda Cloche in Mint Green, please!! It matches absolutely nothing in my closet, but that just means I’ll have a reason to sew something (cuz I’ll take any excuse to buy fabric)!

  27. My fave is the Louise Cloche Hat in Black Fur Felt Velour with Vintage ivory Grosgrain Bow. Love the shape and the bow. They’re all so cute though it’s definitely a hard choice to make!

  28. These hats are gorgeous!!! I would love to own them all, but if I have to pick just one, I think I’d like to have the Louise cloche hat in black. Thanks for the wonderful opportunity to win such an amazing hat.

  29. Oh yay!! The possibility of winning one of these fabulous hats is so exciting! I went to her shop and favorited her and many of the hats too! πŸ˜‰

I would love to have the Zelda cloche in mint green with brown velvet trim. That is gorgeous!!

    Thank you for the chance!
    -Jamie

  30. Oh my word! Those are absolutely beautiful hats πŸ™‚ I think my favorite is the Louise Cloche Hat in Camel Fur Felt Velour with Vintage ivory Grosgrain Bow . It’s lovely πŸ™‚

  31. My favourite has got to be the Zelda Cloche hat. It’s so beautiful.

Thank you so much for this great give-away. πŸ˜€

    /Susanne

  32. I’m drawn to the Claudette and Zelda cloche hats. They have the sass I want to have. I’d say Claudette is more my mood right now!

  33. I think all the hats are wonderful, but I love the Louise Cloche Hat in Lavender Fur Felt Velour with Vintage ivory Grosgrain Bow!! I just love the color. This shape is best for me, I’ve found, after trying many hats over the years. Thanks for the opportunity, and for sharing this wonderful site!

  34. Gorgeous! I’m not going to admit just how long it took me to pick a single favorite…it’s the Louise Cloche in black with ivory ribbon bow. (The Mint Zelda is a close second, however)

  35. The Oliva hat is beautiful! The perfect hat to go with all my 40s suits–and exactly the shape I can’t find anywhere else!

  36. I’m going to have to agree with you, Katherine, that the Claudette Cloche in Midnight Blue is my favorite. My short hair doesn’t always look good under a hat, but I think this one would work perfectly with a pixie cut.

  37. All of the hats are absolutely stunning, truly. My favorite hat by far though, is the Brigette Beret Hat in Camel. I’d love to have this hat because I’m making a black 1954 suit and I think they would compliment each other beautifully. Not to mention it would go perfectly with my hair!
What a wonderful giveaway, I’ll just be sitting here crossing my fingers. πŸ˜‰

  38. Wow! Beautiful hats! It’s almost too hard to choose 1 favorite πŸ™‚ But the color and shape of the Olivia Fascinator in Teal has captured my heart!

    *fingers crossed* πŸ™‚

  39. My absolute favorite is the Louise cloche in Camel. I have a large head, so I’m not sure any of them would really fit me, but I’ve always wanted a nice neutral cloche, and the Louise has such a classic cut to it!

  40. I absolutely ADORE the Zelda Cloche in Mint! I could die in it it’s so gorgeous! I have been searching for a great green hat to compliment my red locks, and this would be perfect! Thanks for such a generous giveaway!

  41. What a fabulous giveaway! And such a great choice. After much careful deliberation I whittled it down to the Margaret cloche, I love the symmetry and the dainty shape, and I’m going for the eggplant, because it’s one of my favourite colours, and I just love the little floral decoration.
    Here’s hoping …… Xx

  42. So many appealing hats, it’s really hard to choose…but for me, it would be Delysia in brown! I’ve worn mostly black for years, and am moving, ever so gradually, into other colors. Browns and olive-greens are both nice.

Wow, what a great selection of elegant hats πŸ™‚

  43. I think I’ve found my new fav etsy shop! I have a huge love of hats (its a sickness really). I love the Babette Cap. Why? See, this is where the sickness part comes in. You know you’re in love when you get that panting breathing thing going on and your stomach feels all funny with the Green Eyed Monster Envy when you see it. Your hands get cramped from the grabbing motion you’re making towards it on the screen…and your boyfriend tells you to wipe the foam from your mouth. Ah, hats. Babette Hat, you were hard to pick as a fav (oh the teal, so lovely too) but its so unique!

  44. I love the style of the Zelda hat, but I don’t think I’d ever wear that shade of green…so I will have to pick the Delysia hat in brown! And if I don’t win, I think I may have to save up and see if I can get Zelda in black!

  45. I’m in love with the Delysia hat in black! Im having daydreams about wearing it already. I have a nice wool coat that would look great with and black is a nice dress up color I can mix and match with. And, as a fun fact, Aimee happens to live right down the country road from me as it turns out. Didn’t know that till I read her Etsy blurb. Shout out to the Finger Lakes!

    1. Well Hello neighbor! Yes, I’m just in Honeoye Falls. The Delysia is one of my very favorites…so flattering and with the sculpted crown, the hat block alone is a work of art. My heart skipped a beat when I found that one…a “vogue” industrial block picked up from Hollywood!!!

      Cheers,
      Aimee

  46. Hi Aimee! What beautiful hats!
    Thank you for the giveaway.
I adore hats! It’s difficult to pick just one, but I have decided that the Sybil Fedora is my favorite.

  47. I adore the Delysia in black velour felt! There’s nothing like a beautiful 30’s hat. Plus the vintage buckle just makes it more unique. πŸ™‚

  48. Hello,

I love all the hats, but my choice would be the ‘Margaret Cloche Hat in Eggplant Fur Felt Velour with Satin Ribbon and Ribbon Flowers’. The vintage styles are great; I hope I’m blessed enough to win one! Thank you for pointing out the shop!

  49. Claudette Cloche Hat in Midnight Blue Fur Felt Velour with Vintage Clip simply fabulous,so many cute hats, this one would turn the most heads and look just splendid on me.

  50. I have far too many dresses screaming that they need the Margaret cloche in cranberry to continue to ignore them! Though I could just spends hours drooling over all the amazing hats!

  51. Beautiful!

I love the Louise Cloche Hat in Black Fur Felt Velour with Vintage ivory Grosgrain Bow.

I actually have no black hats… so it would be great to have one that I could wear more often, especially for spring.

  52. The Claudette is fabulous, but alas would never fit properly over my hair, so I would have to plump for the DELYSIA in either black or brown. I love the “swoosh” in the the crown and the stripey ribbon reminds me of a chocolate box!

  53. Oh my! So many lovely hats! I want one of each! Though the one that strikes my fancy most is the teal Olivia fascinator. That would be just wonderful for the Decades of Style Girl Friday blouse I’m starting on – black with teal embroidery detailing on the stacked collar. Rosalind Russell, eat your heart out!

  54. So many fabulous choices! My favorite has to be the Olivia Fascinator Hat in Teal Felt. And, of course, I would have to make a brand new outfit suitable for such a gorgeous hat!

And how cute is that mannequin?!

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  55. Oh my goodness,
What a perfect giveaway! I have had the Louise cloche in my favorites for ages and would be delighted to win one. Thanks to both of you for putting this together for us!

  56. Hello Ladies!

I am deeply touched by your gracious comments about my hats! Every word has brightened my day. Making these hats is an exercise in love of vintage fashion and style. I take great joy in breathing new life into an old block.

I started this endeavor because although vintage hats are still out there…their condition is often poor, the style unsuitable, the fit wrong, etc. Since I also love collecting and sewing from vintage patterns, I thought if any gals could appreciate these hats, it would be the lovely ladies here!

Please do check my shop often. I hat more blocks and styles to add including bridal versions of both the 1940s Olivia and 1950’s Grace. I have also recently come into a wider brim hat that simply screams Casablanca, a sculpted pillbox….am eyeing an upturned cloche block and have a sculpted cloche being replicated.

Every hat form you see can be created in your choice of around 40 different colors of lush velour fur felt… or from high quality parasisal straw. Please feel free to convo me at any time.

    Cheers
    Aimee

  57. They are all so beautiful! But my favorite is the Louise Cloche Hat in Camel Fur Felt Velour with Vintage ivory Grosgrain Bow. (However, isn’t the Deylsia hat beautiful? It’s so hard to choose)

Thanks for introducing us to this shop!

  58. I can’t decide between the claudette or the Louise cloche. the Claudette has the thrill factor- I’m in love with it and it would help me to branch out into the style I love but am not always brave enough to wear. The Louise is beautiful. I would not have to be gutsey to try it, and the lavender colour would make me feel beautiful. The Louise in Lavender it is!

  59. Oooh! What fabulous hats!

As a life-long hat lover, I could choose so many of them, but the one that’s really calling to me is the Delysia in brown velour
    (http://www.etsy.com/listing/111846051/delysia-in-brown-velour-felt-1930s)
Not only is it beautiful (as are all the hats on there), but it looks to be of a slightly asymmetric shape which really suits my face and would frame it well. And brown is such a versatile colour too.

Well, even if I don’t win, I’ll be saving my pennies for that one.

  60. The Claudette Cloche Hat in Midnight Blue Fur Felt Velour with Vintage Clip is must. Classy and sassy. That hat + red lipstick + hip flask = instant flapper fun !

  61. Wow! These are absolutely stunning and are officially on my Christmas wishlist! The Zelda Cloche Hat in Mint Green is perfection.

  62. This is a simply fabulous giveaway! I would be beyond pleased to win one of these hats. It would be very hard to decide on just one, but the Zelda in Mint Green would be my first choice, with the Claudette in Midnight Blue as an extremely close second.

    Sarah Grace

  63. What lovely hats. One of these beauties would make a nice addition to any wardrobe. My choice is the Babette Cap Fascinator Hat in Grey Fur Felt Velour because Grey is a very flattering color for me. I would feel amazing in it.
    sewingwithtrudy at yahoo dot com

  64. What a superb site. I love them all! However, having a large head, I’d really like the Grace cocktail hat – it certainly would make a great eyecatcher.
I LOVE hats and have just started trying to make some myself. I’ve just used an upturned salad bowl to try and do some blocking of felt ….

  65. You may just be right. I am in love with that Claudette cloche, although the Louise style was tempting I really like the swirl detail on the first.

  66. I’m head over heels for the Zelda cloche. Not only is it my favorite color, but the name (and look of the hat) make me think of Zelda Fitzgerald, wife of my favorite author, and legend in her own right. Thanks for hosting the giveaway. I’ve added the shop to my favorites and am sure to show “Santa” more than a few that I like.

  67. Without a doubt, I love the Claudette Cloche the best! But they are all beautiful! What a talented milliner – and an awesome and generous giveaway! πŸ™‚
    -Jenni

  68. Although I have a soft spot in my heart for all berets and cloches, my favorite simply must be the Babette Cap Fascinator Hat! I would probably chose one in Ivory, with veiling, to match a 1940’s spring/summer suit.

Of course, then I would have to pair the hat/suit with a dream picnic in the countryside with my hubby…

  69. Oh, so many gorgeous hats to choose from! I think (after a lot of debate with myself, haha!) my favourite is the Delysia in brown velour felt. Such a gorgeous style, I love the striped ribbon trim, and the colour would go well with my hair and wardrobe.

Thanks for the chance to enter such a lovely giveaway!

  70. Zelda Cloche Hat in Mint Green Fur Felt Velour with Brown Velvet trim!

I have been searching for a large-size cloche for the longest time. It’s my favourite hat-style. I’m already imagining it with one of my green necklaces and the beige dress with splashes of mint-green. And as the summer temperatures rise, and the palms sway gaily next to my veranda in Brisbane, I gaze upon this thing of beauty and dream of winter.

  71. The Sybil Fedora Hat in Beige Fur Felt Velour is just as spunky as myself! Thanks for the generous giveaway and for telling us about this lovely shop <3

  72. After an agonizingly long time spent trying to decide what hat I love best…I decided it was deylsia in brown. It may have been one of the hardest decisions of my life as these are all gorgeous hats…. This may be one of the best give always ever.

  73. Oooh, tough choice between the brown Delysia and the midnight blue Claudette! Congratulations on opening your shop, Aimee! You’re keeping the skills alive, a truly admirable venture πŸ˜€

  74. What a fabulous giveaway and what fabulous hats!!! They are all delicious, but I think my favorite is the black Louise Cloche.

  75. The Grace 50’s cocktail hat is my favorite!
How could’nt you have a distinguished look with such a hat? It would look amazing with a New Look type dress with a tight waist and a full skirt.^^
It’s great to see style coming back in hats. It’s the perfect accessory to give some allure to a plain or monochromatic outfit. Accessories make all the difference!
