I’ve recently discovered that I love late 30s/early 40s fashions and I’ve been working on sewing up some vintage patterns from this period.

I sewed this dress up in some lovely blue purple rayon I scored in the LA garment district this summer.

The shape is so elegant!

I sewed up view 2 on the right. Now I need a jaunty little hat like the model is wearing!

And I adore the pockets! Best feature of this dress! More photos and construction details can be found on my blog.

I'm a 20 something Chemistry professor who loves the fashions of the 30s, 40s and 50s. I'm also completely obsessed with Downton Abbey. Aside from sewing, I also love to knit, scrapbook and read.

Colour is stunning with your hair — tres elegant!
Am going green thinking of you in LA amongst all that fabric. Sigh… ;-)
