Australian Home Journal

I have recently started collecting Australian Home Journal magazines, which contain some great vintage patterns and inspiration! Today I posted the August, 1950 issue on my blog. Here are some of the images of fashions from the issue:

I even had some fun imagining how the patterns from the cover might look if I made them up! Hopefully there will be a finished project from one of these patterns to post sometime in the future!

  • I love these magazines, and as I live in Australia, I have a huge collection of them. As well, as being “fashion catalogues”, they were originally sold with around 3 unprinted sewing patterns folded inside the mag.

If I find duplicate copies, I list them for sale in my Etsy shop, here:

Now, if I could just find some time to actually make some of those dresses!

  • I scored 3 Home Journals at some markets last year. I have promised myself that I will make the beautiful dresses – some day.
