Simply Stylish

in 1950s

Since my last post here at Sew Retro, the weather in OZ has turned decidedly chilly, making it perfect for staying inside and sewing. It also means it’s time to get started on my winter wardrobe. I have a sewing wish lish, but first I was dying to make this 1950s skirt with stylish side pleat detail.

I have been collecting & sewing from Vintage patterns (30s-50s) for the past 5 years. My favourite era to sew is the 40s & the style suits me to a tea.

Love the skirt, and your accessories. Excellent reminder, as am doing some skirts myself, but adapting current patterns to vintagey (fingers crossed). Side pleats might be relatively easy to add!

Also admire that blouse. Did you make it, and if so, what pattern?

Cheers!

Hi D’ellis! The top is actually an angora sweater I picked up many years ago. It doesn’t get much wear because of the exposed shoulders but now I have a matching capelet it might get out a bit more often.
