So this isn’t a vintage pattern (I hope I don’t offend with my post), but made with Simplicity 2444. I think it has a definite vintage vibe and would be good for anyone who might not have access to vintage patterns to still get the *look* they want. The bodice features very striking angled darts, and the skirt is full and pleated.
I was trying to emulate the adorable Miss Zooey Deschanel, who has a look I think most of us must like. Modern, with a retro twist.
This dress was simple to make and I didn’t need to make any adjustments for fit. The inside is finished with french seams and the hem was catch-stitched by hand. If you’d like to see more photos and details hop on over to my blog Dapper Duds

I think your dress is darling Cynthia – thanks for sharing. I love the fabric too, it’s so cute! And yes, it’s very reminiscent of Ms Zooey. Great job!

Love this dress, and since pattern’s available, went right over to check it out. Darling finishing – such patience! (long sigh…)
You should definitely make it!
Aaaaaah so much cuteness and awesomeness! This dress is awesome!
Beautifully done. I went to your blog. The inside of the dress is as perfect as the outside! wow.
WOW! I absolutely love that fabric – it is perfect for the dress! love it! I went over to your blog, the dress is finished beautifully.
Oooh lovely. I have some of that Marc Jacobs fabric too. Now you have inspired me to use it.
You should! Cutest fabric ever. I still have a yard left, and I know I’m going to be a creep and hoard it until I find the perfect way to use up the rest.
Perfect. Lovely finish on the inside. Well done.
So lovely!! and the fabric is so cute! definitely it has a vintage vibe!
Great dress – you wouldn’t know it wasn’t a vintage design – very nice 🙂
I love it and it DOES look vintage – great fabric choice too. Matching fabric with pattern is very difficult and so few people get it right. You did! Bravo!
So cute! I agree with Karen – it looks totally 1960s! You did a lovely job, and the style suits you well.
Happy sewing!

What a cute dress! Before I read anything, I thought, that is so Zoey Deschanel, so you definitely succeeded with that! 🙂
