Bow Print Dress

March 14, 2012

So this isn’t a vintage pattern (I hope I don’t offend with my post), but made with Simplicity 2444. I think it has a definite vintage vibe and would be good for anyone who might not have access to vintage patterns to still get the *look* they want. The bodice features very striking angled darts, and the skirt is full and pleated.

I was trying to emulate the adorable Miss Zooey Deschanel, who has a look I think most of us must like. Modern, with a retro twist.

This dress was simple to make and I didn’t need to make any adjustments for fit. The inside is finished with french seams and the hem was catch-stitched by hand. If you’d like to see more photos and details hop on over to my blog Dapper Duds

I think your dress is darling Cynthia – thanks for sharing. I love the fabric too, it’s so cute! And yes, it’s very reminiscent of Ms Zooey. Great job!

  2. Love this dress, and since pattern’s available, went right over to check it out. Darling finishing – such patience! (long sigh…)

    1. You should! Cutest fabric ever. I still have a yard left, and I know I’m going to be a creep and hoard it until I find the perfect way to use up the rest.

  3. I love it and it DOES look vintage – great fabric choice too. Matching fabric with pattern is very difficult and so few people get it right. You did! Bravo!
