Bow Print Dress

So this isn’t a vintage pattern (I hope I don’t offend with my post), but made with Simplicity 2444. I think it has a definite vintage vibe and would be good for anyone who might not have access to vintage patterns to still get the *look* they want. The bodice features very striking angled darts, and the skirt is full and pleated.

I was trying to emulate the adorable Miss Zooey Deschanel, who has a look I think most of us must like. Modern, with a retro twist.

This dress was simple to make and I didn’t need to make any adjustments for fit. The inside is finished with french seams and the hem was catch-stitched by hand. If you’d like to see more photos and details hop on over to my blog Dapper Duds

I think your dress is darling Cynthia – thanks for sharing. I love the fabric too, it’s so cute! And yes, it’s very reminiscent of Ms Zooey. Great job!

  • Oooh lovely. I have some of that Marc Jacobs fabric too. Now you have inspired me to use it.

    • You should! Cutest fabric ever. I still have a yard left, and I know I’m going to be a creep and hoard it until I find the perfect way to use up the rest.

  • I love it and it DOES look vintage – great fabric choice too. Matching fabric with pattern is very difficult and so few people get it right. You did! Bravo!
