This week I participated in the Oscar challenge set over at Sew Weekly. After thinking of multiple outfits I could make for this challenge I settled on a dress Kate Beckinsale wears for a small portion of ‘Pearl Harbour’
For this I used an early 1940′s pattern in the shape of Hollywood 785, using black polyester crepe.
I had a couple of ‘firsts’ with this dress starting with bound buttonholes (not as terrifying as I thought they’d be!) and I also made my own shoulder pads.

I’m with you on the bound buttonholes – I spent the longest time avoiding them and they’re really not that hard!
