This dress is the result of Vintage Pattern 8043. I couldn’t find a date on the pattern but I’m thinking it must be 1950s. It is unfortunately only a toile. In fact this is the most effort I have ever put into a toile! I bought the fabric, some cheap shiny synthetic blend, for the sole purpose of making a toile but was secretly hoping it would be a wearable one. Not to be as the fabric was really unstable and little holes started to appear. Was a joy to make though. The neckline was a bit challenging and the diagrams were a little tricky to follow on the instruction sheet but I got there in the end. I will defo make this up again in a better quality fabric. I think a Little Red Dress is as important as a black one! More details over at ooobop!
This may be a toile but it looks awesome! And I concur- LRD is just as essential as a LBD- just have to find the perfect shade of red for yourself!
Thanks Amanda. Am thinking tangerine too! 🙂
What a fabulous pattern, and it looks great on you! Are you going to make the jacket too?
Sassy lady! The red seamed stockings are an awesome touch. Looks like you had a ton of fun taking these pics 😀
