I made Butterick 6582 – the 60′s retro reprint – as part of the Sew Weekly Celebration challenge. The dress was so fast and easy to make, and I love how it turned out.
This dress almost didn’t happen. I originally made another dress as part of the Sew Weekly Celebration challenge, but I hated it. I guess you have to accept that if you’re making your clothes, every once in a while you’re going to have a flop.
Anyways, I thought I could move on, but the challenge was looming over my head. It was the last one of 2011. I could totally do this. I spent the beginning of the week cleaning out my sewing room, and revisiting my stashed fabric and patterns. I found three yards of a green silk shantung that I bought over a year ago and matched it up with Butterick 6582. It seemed like the perfect party dress.

Oh, this is gorgeous. That’s a great color on you.
I have been pulling that pattern out of my stash off and on for the past 6 months. So nice to see it made up! I think I’ll have to get at it …
I have seen that pattern around and seeing your dress makes me regret not buying it. Your dress looks great!
