Hi there, my name is Cynthia. This is my fist post to sew retro as I’ve been sewing less than a year and this is my first time using a vintage pattern.

I cut a size 12, and had to make a few adjustments to get the fit close to right (I made two muslins). I shortened the waist 1 1/4″ and the length by 2″ so that it would hit below my knee as opposed to mid-calf. I also ended up making the side seams a full inch to get this bad boy to hug my curves. The adjustment I’m most proud of was figuring out how to lower the back 6″ and re-drafting the back facing to fit. More photos and details can be found on my brand new blog http://dapperduds.wordpress.com/2011/11/30/butterick-6582-im-in-love/ Thank you all! Have a lovely day.

This is lovely! Well done!
I am super impressed with your tailoring. 9 times out of 10, when I see vintage patterns made, they don’t have the right fit in the waist. You nailed it with the fabric choice as well! Good job.
That is awesome! I adore your fabric choice as well!

I’ve seen that pattern around a few times and wish that I had purchased it! The fabric and fit look beautiful. I love the back!
