Hello clever sewers, this is my first post on this fantastic blog.. I’ve been reading and following you and your work for some time and I’m finally signed up to contribute, wohoo!

A little about myself, I’m a full-time mama to Luna (3 & 1/2) and Blake (1 & 1/2) I live in Auckland, with my husband, our kids and our old cat Austin. I work from home, when I get the chance, I sew and craft for local markets and sell online at felt.co.nz (kind of like a NZ etsy). I studied fine art, gradualting in 2005, prior to that I worked as a mac operator, and since as a projectionist and took primary school groups on tours at Auckland Art Gallery. And now, it’s about my kids, my sewing our garden and reading and the beach. Here’s my blog, mermaid’s purse.

On to my first project to share: This is Simplicity 8069, a project I started ages ago, when I was still a little afraid of my (nana’s) sewing machine and had few moments between caring for my babies.  I made the middle version, but with longer sleeves…thinking it will be great for the beach or pool, you know.

I have more photos and details about how it all went, here at mermaids purse, it taught me a lot, and I love it.

It have three, yes THREE dresses I plan to make for summer and I can’t wait to get going on them, can’t wait to share how they go!

Enjoy your weekend wherever you are.

Thank you! (and by the way I’m glad you’ve switched to Wordpress, I use it too, and I was having trouble with Blogger..!)
