I’ve had a few questions from some of our delightful viewers (hi guys!) wondering about registration, so hopefully this post will clear up some confusion.

If you don’t want to post on the site but do want to keep up with what we’re all doing, there is no requirement to register. wesewretro.com is viewable by anyone, anywhere in the world, at any time and I have no plans to restrict viewing of the site to registered members only.

You also don’t have to be registered in order to comment on posts. If you’re not a registered member and you try to comment, you’ll be asked for your name (i.e. whatever you want your name to show up as above the comment) and your email address (which is never displayed on the site).

That said, registering makes it a bit easier and quicker for you to comment, so I encourage you to register even if you’re just a reader.

There are basically 4 categories of people. If you’re lost, find yourself in this list:

  1. I want to post my creations on the site –> you have to register
  2. I don’t want to post, but I do want to be able to comment on things with a minimum of hassle –> you should register
  3. I don’t want to post, but I do want to be able to comment on things, and I don’t mind typing in my name & email to make a comment –> you don’t have to do anything
  4. I don’t want to post or comment, but I do want to read and be inspired and drool –> you don’t have to do anything

As an aside, I know not everyone is familiar with RSS or RSS readers: this is a good beginner’s guide to Google Reader (there are lots of feed readers available but if you’re a blogger person you have a google account and..well…you see where I’m going here….). It’s one of the easiest ways to keep up with new posts.

I’ll be spending some time this weekend tweaking and accommodating some suggestions and requests we’ve had, so if there’s something you need or you’re not sure about, leave me a comment here and I’ll sweep them all up at once.

I’ve been assigning old posts from blogger to new accounts if they’re easy to match up. If you click on your ‘posts’ link on the members page and don’t see your old posts, drop me an email with your old and new usernames if you want me to hook you up.

As a reward for getting through that tedious block of text, here is a gratuitous picture of my child during her younger days : )

Hi, I’ve been reading sewretro for about a month. I’m pretty new to sewing and love retro so I love to go back to the old postings to catch up on what I’ve missed since the site was started. So what I’m getting to is: can you create a link to older posts by year, and then subdivided by month so that I can continue my catching up? I think this new site looks great and I appreciate all the work you’re putting into it.
