70’s coat dress

August 15, 2011

Yesterday I finished this peter pan collar coat dress that I made with Butterick’s pattern nr. 6548 from the 70’s. I can’t get over how amazing this pattern is (look at the pants!). This was the first time I sewed anything with sleeves, cuffs or a collar so I was worried things wouldn’t go as planned. Luckily I managed to get everything just right and now I can’t stop admiring the dress! I found some old linen curtains at a salvation army shop in Helsinki that I used as fabric.

For more pictures have a look at my blog pretty odd wonders!

  1. This pattern is great Gonna have to do a hunt for something similar -all these items would perfect for my winter wardrobe!

The fabric's colouring in spot on with your complexion and hair. Nice one!

  2. Oh wow, love love love. I'm gonna have to note down this pattern number two! 70s patterns seem to have been what inspires Marc Jacobs from time to time, I seem to remember seeing something similar to this awhile back. Nice job and the fabric suits your colouring very well.
