My Authentic 1950s Walkaway Dress

July 19, 2011

I have always loved the classic 1950s dresses with their bouffant skirts and fitted bodices.  This dress was made from the “Walkaway” dress pattern (Butterick 4790).  But since there were obvious differences between the retro version and the updated patern, I did a few simple adjustments to the pattern to achieve that authentic 1950s look. You can read more about it here.  I love the way the dress turned out, and I plan to make another one using this pattern soon!  Happy sewing!
