white eyelet maxi dress

June 6, 2011

just finished this one over the weekend!

eyelet dress - patterns
i used two patterns to make this – the bodice from simplicity 9164 & the skirt from mccall’s 5648.
the bodice & midriff are underlined in unbleached muslin (for modesty… should have underlined the skirt, did not, no care, sorry mom :), the zipper is handpicked. i also shortened the bottom ruffle in half lengthwise because i ran out of fabric. all good now, though!

thanks for looking ♥

  1. Oh, my goodness! I made a dress from Simplicity 9164 way back in the '70s when I was a mere slip of a girl. I made the dress out of a red calico and the midriff out of a black solid.

I love how you combined the two patterns — and the trim on the midriff. Just make yourself a half-slip and you won't have to worry about not having lined it.

  2. I also made the Simplicity, when I was a teenager. And…I checked and STILL HAVE THE PATTERN!

Your dress have given me a few ideas!

I really like the trim that you used. It's a nice detail.
