Vintage Sewing

Hi, I’m Rene!

June 14, 2011

Hello fellow retro enthusiasts! My name is Rene and I have a blog over at Lace & Thimble where I share my love for sewing, embroidery, and a little bit of baking. I also have a shop at Etsy where I sell original hand- stitched greeting cards. I have loved vintage fashions since an early age, often spending my time studying old photographs and searching through thrift stores to find that one special piece. As a young girl, my mom used to sew me dresses for special occasions and it has always seemed so special to own something specifically handmade for yourself. I have been sewing for myself since a teenager, but it is only within the past few years that I discovered sewing blogs and became really excited about the whole process. I can get really geeky about it- I think that it’s such a fascinating art, taking something 2D and making it 3D. A piece of sculpture, really. . I have often mused over what other home seamstresses are able to do and it’s such an honor to be able to share this space!

  1. OMG! My mom has curtains made from that fabric! LOVE!!! (Mom always re-purposed sheets or made matching curtains from extra flat sheets.)
