original coat

my version

It’s almost July and I can’t believe that I’m still wearing this coat…I made my black version last autumn based on a late 30′s/early40′s coat I found in the collection of the costume company I frequently do work for.
The original doesn’t look so great in the picture but when I tried it on I just knew I had to make one for myself.
So over a couple of months I did. I’ve written more on how I went about doing that on my blog

That is so elegant! You did a fantastic job, and no one would ever know it wasn't an antique garment.

Happy sewing!

I totally love this. I've wanted a coat like this for so long. Brilliant job.

What an elegant coat. I love the pleats. I can easily see you wearing at every possible opportunity.
