1 x grey wool 60s coat multiplied by 1 x 1940s home needlecraft book = 1 warm coat for small dog and 1 applique 40s style bolero
Have been sewing and crafting since I was a small child, so yes, that’s well over forty years now! Love retro sewing, particularly re-purposing vintage textiles and “make do & mend” type projects. Was inspired by one of my vintage home needlework books to repurpose a dowdy grey coat. I used 40s appliqué and embroidery motifs to decorate the bolero, and my own farmyard motifs for my little dog’s jacket. See more on my blog at http://brocobelle.blogspot.com/. Lovely to join the Sew Retro crowd and huge thanks to Anna for her help in getting me signed up. Cheers, Karen

So adorable. I'm finding more and more of these make and mend projects. It was such a great mentality that I wish would come back in fashion.
I agree. At the moment, I can hardly walk past a pair of curtains at a window without thinking of turning them into a dress or jacket!
Love both… very cute dog! and the bolero is a great shape.
welcome! both projects are super cute and turned out really well.
