Hello all you retro-loving sewists!

I’m excited to be finally a member of Sew Retro, as it was largely this site that encouraged me to learn to sew after loving vintage styles for so long.

Recently my grandparents celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, and the best way I knew how to honour this event was to make a dress from the year of their wedding – 1951. I decided to make McCall’s 9040, found here on the Vintage Pattern Wiki.

Here is my finished version (despite appearances, I hadn’t even finished one glass of wine):

Come over to my blog for more pictures and details about the making of this dress.

What a great idea for something to do in honor of your grandparents! Your dress is very pretty!
