Redwork Revival

in Embroidery

Some nights I am torn: my mind and my hands want to create something, but my body is just too tired to cut fabric and sit hunched over my sewing machine.  Some nights I just want to hang out on the couch with my husband and watch our favorite tv shows… but make something at the same time!  The perfect solution to my quandary: embroidery! Sublime Stiching has great retro, kitschy patterns. I also love redwork, which was done primarily from the 1880′s to the 1940′s. To find out more about redwork and to see more pics of my finished project which is pictured below, stop by and say hi at Five Minutes More, Please! I would also love any suggestions of where I could find more embroidery tips or patterns.

Oh! I love redwork. It's so charming. I've been working on a couple pieces off and on for awhile. I found both patterns online for free (don't remember where–it's been a long time). Good luck with yours!

She even has some free patterns.

Nice job on your sweet shoes design. Thanks for the reminder to break out my redwork projects again.

Very cute! I love embroidery too, though I am still learning a lot. It is my portable project. Check out
